Adaptability • Cleverness • Tolerance
Speed of thought and action is one of the fox’s qualities. A fox is clever and can quickly assess situations and take appropriate action. Their intelligence and ability to apply wisdom are reflected in the saying “as sly and clever as a fox.” In many stories, foxes are portrayed as bad. Cunning is linked to being sneaky and thinking only of oneself. But can an animal, trying to survive in the wild, really be labeled as bad? Foxes have an extraordinary talent for adapting to and navigating situations.
The Arctic fox is a species that primarily lives in the tundra. Its fur color varies. In summer, it is usually grayish brown, while in winter it turns white. There are also smoky gray foxes called blue foxes. Arctic foxes can survive temperatures as low as -50°C. They live in small groups and are social and tolerant toward other animals in their territory. To survive the winter, they estimate their food supply and store surplus for times of scarcity. As a spirit animal, the Arctic fox embodies all the qualities of foxes in general, with the added trait of tolerance.
